Hello all. My cd/dvd/bluray read/write drive on my laptop suddenly disappeared. All "my Computer" shows is my C: drive, whereas I used to have a D: drive. I was uninstalling a few programs before it happened, one of which was Daemon ProTools, which I suspect to be the culprit. I read that the program TestDisk might be able to help. I ran it but only my hard drive shows up in the program too. When I insert a disk, I can hear the drive reading it, so I know it didn't become disconnected. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks.

Just covering the obvious for starters.
Have you tried rebooting again since uninstalling daemon?

does it even appear in the device manager?
even if it's as a unknown device.

OK it's there but it has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point next to it. When I click on properties I get this message: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".

But when I try to update driver software, it says the best driver software for your device is already installed.

right click and uninstall it from the device manager and reboot, it may sort itself. (if it doesn't the installer should at least work at that point)
it does seem something weird happened when daemon removed it's virtual drive though.
