Solved Optimize Win 7 to work with 56k analog modem

Hi,

I need a help to optimize Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit on Notebook Dell Inspiron N5720 to sometime work with old internet dial-up connection with external USB 56k analog modem.

How can I optimize Win 7 to work on old connection? Or exist any program that make this?

Now If I connect to the dial-up, connection work for a few time and then block all because all programs try to update. If exist any program or routine that prevent all programs to update and access on dial-up connection and enable update when connected on wireless or ethernet cable connection. On dial-up I need that work only Internet Explorer, Live Mail and program for Bank connection.

Just turn OFF all the Auto Update stuff. Then do all your updating manually when you feel like it. No need to have all that Auto Update stuff running all the time. Just a waist of resources.

You can try the free version of windows firewallcontrol.

It will popup when any of your programs try to connect, just click disallow.

You won't have to do it again after that.

If you wan to change it after, just click the edit button.
