Everytime I try to boot my Windows XP emulator in Oracle VM Virtual Box I get the following error.

AMD-V is being used by another hypervisor.
(VERR_SYM_IN_USE)

I have had this working before on the same exact hardware setup.

As far as I know virtualization is enabled via bios.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Do you have another instance of virtualization running? I've seen that error if I try to run VirtualBox annd XP Mode (Virtual PC) at the same time.

Hi there

Have you enabled HYPER-V as well -- you can't have HYPER-V AND VBOX/VMWARE together on the same installation - if you have it just disable it in control panel Programs and features==>turn windows features on / off.

(I'm not sure if HYPER-V is available in W7 - I'm using W8.1 at the moment - on a VM with OPENSUSE as Host. If HYPER-V isn't available in W7 then please ignore the post).

Hi there

I just noticed your post -- XP EMULATOR -- what's that --Is it a normal XP installation you created a Virtual Machine with VBOX or are you trying to run XP Mode or some other software rather than a bog standard Virtual Machine.
