It was on the news here (I haven't measured them myself).

Apparently some Australian guy started the uproar.
A man in Australia started uproar on January 15 when he posted a photo on the company's Facebook page of one of its footlong subs next to a tape measure showing the sandwich as just 11 inches.

I think all one has to do is rub back and forth on the sandwich a few times and the sandwich will meet advertised measurements.
