Other peoples Audio Setups ?

i know this is like far out but every ones allways going on about getting big monitors and HENCH pc build but you never see anything to go with it but a pair of head phones or a 2.1 Labtec / Logitech surround sound kit.


Now i am kind of a speaker freak and in my spare time i DJ and i use virtual DJ and serrato pro so im constantly using my laptop or my desktop rig for music etc


I currently have in my room a 1200watt amp running 2 6x9Inch polk Audios 300rms watts each and 2x Wharfedale Monitors that are 150 watts rms each

and i have a 12inch Sealed Subwoofer from Kenwoof that runs on a JBL Car amp with a PC powersupply Mod 800watts sub and the power supply and amp are 800 too.



My disco setup consists of 4x speaker cabs with 2 inch horns and 10 inch bass drivers 700 watts each running on a sky tech 2000watt 2 channel amp.

At the top of the photo is some Acoustic-Sound PROFILE 300's

does anybody else have a nice speaker Rig/Setup ?

My "little" Corsair SP2500 2.1 system is capable of seriously annoying the neighbors if I crank it (which I don't; I respect me ears and the neighbors too much). Fed by an Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card, it gives me remarkable fidelity, much better than the Pioneer towers I used to have (and those weren't slouches). I don't need a lot of volume to hear my music and anything more than 2.1 is overkill for music. I don't have room for 5.1 or 7.1 anyway (walls, shelves, and closet doors get in the way). I do wish 3.1 was available so I could use them for watching TV as well as listening to music.

My Klipsch Promedia 2.1's are enough to get me in trouble. Also, I don't watch anything on the computer but the occasional youtube video, etc.......everything else is streamed to my TV's.

My rig starts with the mobo optical out to a Cambridge Audio DAC Magic then into a Rotel RTX940 AX pre-amp then a RG 990BX 200x2 power amp out to my Infinity Modulus series I with matching powered subwoofer. The pictures are of the system set up elsewhere.

Those audio systems are scary. I would need a bottle of Asperin each week to keep my head from spinning. I have 2 little speakers and a bass box. Works for me.

I can hook my pc up to my 700 Watt Sony 7.1 system and I have my 2 12" Alpine Type E Subwoofers connected to the 500 Watt Subwoofer Amp. Don`t use em in the truck anymore and they shake the floor :shock:

My Corsairs have a combined power of 220 watts and I run them at half volume and drive them gently. I could blow the windows out if I wanted to but windows are expensive.

Today I was treated to an interesting stereo presentation. The neighbors on either side of me had construction projects going that sounded like a battle of the bands.

At the expense of my eardrums, windows, and sanity. Earplugs are cheaper. Besides, the "concert" didn't last long and I don't expect a return engagement anytime soon.

I have a 9.2 system for my home theater using a yamerhamer a/v, Infinity sats and Acoustic Audio subs. My stereo system is old Phase Linear with Speaker Lab 7's and a set of Corner Horn K's with a Polk sub, it's setup with the Hafler effect, old school quad. My poor PC has a old set of Monsoon ribbons with sub for 2.1.

Madcratebuilder, Sounds like a sweet old school rig. My main rig is Lexicon and Adcom tri-amped with my original prized AR9's and Paradigm's for surround and center. I had been running a Paradigm powered sub but after properly bi-amping the AR9's I pulled it out as with (4) 12" woofers properly powered and equalized there was zero need sonically.
These speakers date back to late 70's and still amaze today even if they are a bit beamy.




Shots are for AR9's only all equipment pictured is different then current set up as well as LCD replaced with different unit.

Could you provide a map of the speaker placement for 9.2? After 15 minutes (and a lot of blue air) of searching on two different search engines, I found nothing on 9.2 (and the *&^%$#@! search engines gave me results for every^%$#@!thing else, even after I tried excluding them). I'm guessing it's the same as 7.1 except there are two sets of side speakers instead of one and there are two subs but I'm hazy on the placement of the subs. What equipment would you use to drive all those speakers and what would you use for a source of 9.2?

OK here are my speakers for 2.0, no need for a subwoofer in this case. These speakers are 30 years old and I won't part with them at any price. Here are mine with a pair of Polks used as a center channel for 5.1. The amp has 2 x 100w center channels so I use them both, no problem with dialogue here.

And yes the TV and HI Fi is just there to display the collection of furry friends on. Note the Flag of the Continental Congress, the 1St Flag Of the Grand Union the predecessor of the Stars and Stripes flag.

Windows of the glazed kind are probably cheaper that Windows of the M$ kind except for labour to reinstall the windows.....reminds me of this song....

I would love to hear those AR's, bi-amping is something I have always wanted to try out. I don't listen to my stereo system as much as I would like anymore. Mostly the HT and movies I installed one of those "thumpers" in my recliner, the thing really changes the movie experience.

7.1 would be the common 3 front, 2 side and 2 rear with a single sub. 7.2 adds a second sub. The 9.2 adds 2 speakers to the front, you place them higher and further apart than the L & R mains. This is a funtion of my Yamaha RX-Z9 9.1 a/v receiver.

These 2 speakers are normally the same as your side speakers. They add to the spacial experience giving you more overhead sound. Most of the time you don't hear anything from them. Watching a movie with aircraft scenes, they add to the experience. Birds chirping in a tree, things like that. They shine with the movie "Master and Commander" the sounds of the ship really come alive.

I haven't looked at new A/V stuff in some time. I would think there are affordable A/V receivers available now with 9.1. I've played with many different speaker brands, I was buying and selling 1 or 2 sets a month on evilbay. Did a lot of different arrangements and I think the best sound for the dollar is adding a second sub woofer. The subs do not need to be high dollar, you can get great sound for under $500 a pair or less...sound that well move you. I have a 65" 3D Pany and my in home movie experience is better than any thing I have ever experienced. Primarily from enhanced sound, coming from 360 degrees. If you ever get the chance, try out a pair of Infinity Quadrapoles. IMHO the are the best rear channel speaker you can get at any price. They show up on evilbay sometimes, and can be priced right.
