Out Of Focus Problems In Some Windows In New Win 7 Computer

Hi Folks,

I recently bought a new PC and made the move to Win 7. Somehow, between the new PC, with its different Graphics Card, I had quite a few display problems in various windows. I have done some tweaking and managed to eliminate a number of them, but some still remain. Right now I have run out of ideas, so I would love to hear from any experts out there.

As I see it, there are 2 basic types of problems remaining: (1) When I run older applics, such as Excel 97 and a stock analysis program from 4-5 years ago, I get very 'chunky' out of focus graphics. (2) While most of my IE browser windows are basically decent, I notice that in any given window many graphics (texts) are nicely sharp, but in these same windows other graphics, especially images, can be blurred or not as sharp as I want them.

My new PC: ASUS Essentio Series CM1740, running AMD processor (I don't know which), 16 GB memory, Win 7 OS. Monitor: LG 2360 LED.

I hope someone can provide me with some handy insights.

Many thanks,

Joe

Hi Roderunner,

First off, thank you for your reply to my question. Since I switch off between 2 systems -- my older desktop is a Gateway PC with an Nvidia card and my newer desktop is an Asus with a Radeon card -- I don't always get around to checking the results of suggestions. I did as you recommended but truthfully I see no meaningful difference.

I can probably live with the less-than-stellar graphics over on the Asus side on any Win 7 windows but I am very disappointed with the sub-par graphics on certain programs which are important to me. As I mentioned, I use Excel 97 and also a stock analysis program AmiBroker (from about 4-5 years ago). Before you say, "Well of course -- these are old software and won't give good graphics" I have to emphasize that over on the Gateway side these 2 pgms ran terrifically; the graphics were great! Of course I have the Nvidia card over there.

Roderunner, can you make any other suggestions / comments? My whole purpose in buying the Asus (with 16 GB memory) was to get better processing of lengthy stock-download times, and also to run heavy analysis faster. So I want everything situated over on the Asus side. Lately I've been switching over to the Gateway side to do my stock processing, which is really defeating my purpose.

Again, many thanks!

Joe

Hi Joe,
In the start menu search box type clear text + go to personalization from the control panel & select Screen Saver.
