Hello guys... I'm new to this excellent place.
I think windows 7 is so cool and i haven't got any complaints. Going from xp home to this is Awesome.
However I play flight sim x and since i installed win7 i keep getting out of memory errors after about 5 minutes into a flight. It ran great on xp with 2 gig of ram and an old 8800gts 640 meg card.
I'm still using the same graphics card but i upgraded my ram to 4 gig of corsair ddr3 ram.
I'm not really experienced with understanding graphics and ram issues... can anyone help :)

Old habits are hard to break :)

Also let windows manage the pagefile. The XP style adjustments are no longer necessary.

Have you tried clicking one the actual *.exe file in the FSX folder? Odd that it doesn't have a compatibility tab

I have found on a number of systems I have tested, that Windows 7 does not like some motherboards duel channeling/hyperthreading memory configuration.

I suggest configuring Ganged/Unganged or turn of hyperthreading. And if that doesn't work, try running 1 stick at a time.

I had 2x2gb (4gb) of RAM running 64bit win7. It was crashing all over the place. I tested my ram, all ok. I tried running one stick and the crashing stopped :)

I now run 1 stick of 4gb instead of 2 sticks of 2gb. My system is just as fast and alot more stable. Also teted on all my other "problem" systems, and the BSOD simply stopped when I started running 1 stick of RAM instead of 2.

I also have a BFG Physix Card. And Before I get brained by the nVidia fanboys for not using a shi**y nVidia card instead... there is another reason for the AMD 4850pro, other than gaming, that no nVidia card will ever be able to do. So We'll just leave it at that.

Its not the greatest system, but it does everything "I" need it to do. And self built for a total of £500, there's no arguing.
Ok. I've read all the posts re: the "out of memory" error that occurs about 30 min into a flight and FSX shutting down. This is such a pain. As a newbie, can you please go throught the steps to correct this error? I've been reading that this is not a new problem. I have i-7 2.8 ghz processor, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeF GTS240 with 1024 dedicated, and 1TB hard drive. This shouldn't be an issue with such a robust system.

"Out of Memory" error in FSX

I read your post and went to the Microsoft web page. The patches have to do with Vista. Again, I'm running Windows 7 and these patches do not apply to my system.

its gotta be a set up issue with your system

my rig runs

Win 7 64bit RTM
AMD2+ 2.8ghz Kuma Core
ASUS M3N78-VM Motherboard
500 gig maxtor
2 x 2GB Corsair Memory
BFG 9500GT - 1GB Dedicated Memory

never had the run out of memory issue

clean install on Tues this week all drivers updated
Install was just left to go in as Standard

Have Flight Sim X and Acceleration which also has the Update Patch installed

Havn't needed to run it in Compatabilitly Mode either

Only other thing i remeber from Vista Days :zip: was you had to have the FSX install on the same Drive as your Operating System otherwise i got loads of BSOD's

From what I recall "out of memory" errors usually relate to virtual address space. I assume that Flight Simulator X can use more then the allotted memory for a 32-bit OS. But something else maybe involved as you should be able to use it without it erroring out.

Are you using a modified install of Windows 7 (IE: slipstreaming, etc)? The only other suggestion is to right click on the icon of the game, go to Compatibility tab and place checkmarks for Disable Visual Themes and Disable Desktop Composition. See if that lets you play the game.

I have exactly the same problem. Never had any problems with XP, but now after installing Win7 Pro, 32 bit, I get the very same out of memory errors, I can fly around with 40-45 frames, and suddenly BAM - out of memory.
Running in compatibility mode makes no difference.

I have the following specs.
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Extreme,
RAM: OCZ Platinum Dual Channel 2x2gb,
CPU: Intel Q9650 Quad core 3.0 Ghz,
GPU: MSI GTX280-1GB Ram Super OC,
