Hi, ive already read a few posts on this error and it seems to be quite popular. I also read read a few on here but they don't explain how to resolve my problem.

The problem i have -

I've installed Windows 7 from booting from the disk formatting my HDD, all went well until the installation restarted my machine. I then get the error 'sync out of range' message. I've read in other forums that the answer to this is to start in safe mode and update drivers or lower res, the thing is, is that on your first start from the installation it wont let me start in safe mode, it tells me the 'i cannot start for the first time in safe mode restart in normal mode.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Seems to happen most with analog monitors (or analog connections to LCD monitors). Do you happen to have a different monitor that you could attach to the computer? That resolved the issue for me with one of my installs. After I got everything up and running, I switched to the resolution I wanted and swapped monitors back again.

I don't know.... :(

The problem is that the video card has mistakenly read the monitor as being able to display a higher resolution that it is actually capable of displaying. Somehow you have to supply a monitor that reports the correct information or that reports no information at all so that the video card will be set to a "base" resolution.

There is probably some other way to accomplish the task, but I don't know it. (I'm not claiming to be an expert - just offering friendly advice.)

If you can, were I you, I'd try the other monitor anyway. It just might report the correct information. Then again, it might not; but you'll be no worse for wear other than having lugged it into place and having to return it.

Good luck.
