Solved Outlook 2007 Blocking Links

I have found this morning that Outlook 2007 is blocking all links to web pages. I haven't changed any settings so what could have happened? Any help please?

I am attaching below the message I get and I am the administrator.

Method 1: Reset Internet Explorer settings
You may be able to resolve the issue by resetting Internet Explorer web settings. To do this, follow the steps that correspond to your version of Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer 9


  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools icon, and then click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.

  4. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings window, select the Delete personal settings check box, and then click Reset.

  5. Click Close when it is completed.

  6. Restart Internet Explorer.
  7. Click the Tools icon, and then click Internet Options.
  8. Click the Programs tab, and then click Set programs.

  10. In the Programs list, click Microsoft Outlook, and then click Set this program as default.
  11. Click OK, and then close the Default Programs dialog box.
  12. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Programs tab, and then click Make default under Default web browser.

  6. elect Microsoft Outlook, and then click Set this program as default.

  8. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Programs tab, and then click Make default under Default web browser.
  9. Click OK.

  1. Start Internet Explorer.

  4. Under Internet programs, make sure that the correct email program is selected.
  5. elect the Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser check box.
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK.

    Note You may receive the following message when Internet Explorer starts: Internet Explorer is not currently your default browser. Would you like to make it your default browser?

    If you receive this message, click Yes.

Thanks for your reply. I reset the IE9 settings but that didn't help.

Before trying the Fix It I had a trawl of the internet and I found a page that linked the problem to Google Chrome. This morning I downloaded an update for Flashplayer and Google Chrome downloaded with it. I don't want Chrome so I deleted it. Apparently deleting Chrome alters the registry and stops Outlook linking to the internet. It had not occurred to me that there might have been a connection and on the website there was a link to download a file to correct the problem so all is working as it should now.

Thank you for your help and I apologise to all those who might say I should have looked around the internet in the first place!
