Hi - I have been having a number of apparently unconnected Microsoft Office 2007 problems recently (running on a Windows 7 Home 64 bit system). I will post these separately over the next few days.

The first is a real puzzle. After I boot up my system and start Outlook, I hit the send/receive button and will sometime get a box with a message "Outlook has stopped working" after which I close Outlook, restart it and everything seems to work ok. This only seems to happen the first time I try to seed/receive email each morning.

In the event Viewer I have noticed the following errors showing up regularly (every day):-

Failed to get the Crawl Scope Manager with error=0x80070002.
Failed to determine if the store is in the crawl scope (error=0x80070002).

The Action Center problem report looks like this
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you check in event viewer by typing eventvwr in search. Go to the windows log>application tab.

You need to look for those errors. when you find them please note the event ID and source code and relay them to us.

let us know if you need help with any of this

Solution

In this case there are two things that you will need to do.

1. Check if Outlook works in safe mode, in all programs you will have an option to run outlook in safe mode. if it does then you can repair outlook and the installation should work fine and you will not loose any files

2. If outlook is still not working you can reinstall Outlook but before you do so please backup all your outlook files on the computer(for how to backup read this How to Restore Outlook Mail, Contacts and Other Data from a Backup - About Email)

Hi braincamp, what worked for me is I looked at the Event Viewer and identified which program was confliting with Outlook, then started Outlook in safe mode by typing Outlook /safe in the RUN comand, clicked Options, Addins, Go and then unchecked the program that was causing this. In my case it was the HP Quicklooks that was an Outlook Add-in. Im using Outlook 2010.
