I have been dealing with this issue for months and had to put it aside because of the flu and then some urgent hardware problems.

I'm running Outlook 2010 with about 5 separate POP 3 accounts. I archive regularly and compact after archiving. After a lot of trouble cloning a new C drive to an SSD, Outlook, along with a lot of other software, began acting strangely. Everything has pretty much been resolved except for the Outlook problem.

For no reason I can isolate, Outlook will suddenly close, giving the message that it had to close and it will now try to retrieve my data. It does so, unless I was in the middle of composing an email - that will be gone! Sometimes, instead of closing, it freezes and says application not responding.

I checked the disk for errors using scan now and it's fine. I've run memtest and it's fine. I've run in safe mode and it just shut down with no comments. In working my way through suggestions on this board, I just ran Sysinternals Process Explorer until the error occurred and went back to normal. In looking at Process Explorer, I'm afraid the actual data is overwhelming to me. However, I'll attach everything I have.

Event Viewer shows Error 1000. General:

Can someone help me understand the Sysinternals report. I'm hoping that "the answer" lies in these details somewhere. Or, another idea?

Thanks.

Thanks so much for this link. It's a treasure trove of options which I've not been able to find. I've begun by disabling the two add-ins I use (Spamfighter and MyPhoneExplorer (to sync Outlook and Smartphone). I discovered that several other add-ins were also running such as the social connector and I disabled everything.

Trying to be methodical although how to function long term without those two addins is a question. In process explorer My Phone Explorer ran several times, apparently without incident so we'll see. But I'll leave them all off for a few days to start with.

Then I'll follow some of those links as needed, or, if it's fixed, the one to make adjustments to the gui not usually available, is irresistable.

Do you know whether it's necessary to run VBA if you run any other add-on?

Thanks again - will keep you posted.

Yes I do. I usually wait about a week after the updates are released. Then I download and install. I don't run Windows Defender or Malicious whatever (run mbam). But I always install the criticals and most others.

Thanks for checking on this as I do sometimes forget to keep up to date - but I am now. And I definitely have SP-1.
