Hi. I just recently installed Office 2010 Pro Plus after totally removing Office 2007. I installed Word, PPT, Excel, and Outlook. My system is a Dell Studio 15 laptop running Windows Home Premium 64bit. Everything seems to be working fine, except that every time I start Outlook 2010, the window opens and then the title bar and taskbar flashes 3 times. After that everything is fine. The flashing only occurs with the Outlook application in office. I tried to repair office, run in various compatibility modes, disabled all add-ins, reinstalled office, and even tried it after a clean boot. Can't seem to stop the flashing. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem, or is this how Outlook 2010 is supposed to behave. Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.

It's shortcut must have a switch to open in focus or something. The flashing is just windows alerting you to fact that this application is trying to steal focus and instead of letting it windows flashes the taskbar to let you know it's ready active and got something to say to you. But it's still less in your face than it taking full screen over the app you are currently using. before windows vista we used the TweakUI Powertoy to change these settings. nowadays theres not much do other than turn it down to 1 flash.

Thanks for your suggestion. I made the change to ForegroundFlashCount and also made sure no other applications were running when I started Outlook 2010. It still flashes three times. I'm beginning to believe that the product may be "working as designed".

Yep! Mine does the same. :)

Starts like this:

Then goes to this:

ScreenShot00761.jpg

And then back.

When it doesn't have focus, it appears as the latter and, when it does have focus, it appears as the former. Perfectly normal.
