We have 3 hotmail accounts.
I check mine frequently and have never had authorization security problems.

The other 2 accounts, well grief trying to get it working. AND they check their email daily. Arbitrarily to us anyway, MS invalidates security credentials and the accounts become locked out. Then a long detailed difficult process has to be followed just to read email again. On those 2 accounts, login troubles seem to occur every 30 days. And then you have to have security codes sent to an unassociated email address. Hope MS sends a code, and try to get going using the code.
I am trying to convince the other 2 family members to ditch outlook, com and switch to gmail. Because when they get locked out, I have to fix it and there is a lot of stress and we dont need that.

My FILaw of course, the account got totally screwed up and next day he has to got to bank to finalize mortgage, and since locked out multiple times It was a miracle to get logged in. Then something about it is only good for another 30 days, so he will be locked out again.

Wife managed to get in a month ago, then locked out and at end of 30 day period was sent a link to reactivate her account and a special long code had to be entered.

Of course MS says, if you can recover your security credentials, you can log back in, ok, sure, multiple attempts with the last known good password failed and failed and failed. So I have just about zero confidence left with outlook.com.

Example emails from MS regarding same, sent to gmail to get going again on outlook.com

So after I got him logged in again to outlook.com, I looked into transferring all his email to gmail.
They have a way to do that, but when putting in his outlook password, MS kept refusing the credentials.
So I gave up after 4 tries because I figured outlook would shut him down again if we kept trying.
