I am having problems importing a customer's address book from Outlook Express (XP) to Windows Live Mail (7). The addresses are being (mostly) split into each individual entry: some are just physical addresses, some email addresses, some phone numbers.
I searched on your forum here and did not find the answer to the problem (indeed, I didn't see anyone else having it!) so I thought I'd ask to see if you've heard of anything like this. I would appreciate greatly any response and I apologize if this is something that has already been posted.
Thanks,
Jacob
Edit: I've found that not only are some emails being split from their contact information, but there are 3 contact entries for every phone or phone/email contact. Help?

The first part says the problem is with importing the address book but the Edit part says emails are being split. Is the problem with address book or emails?

I am also having this problem. I have bought a new computer with W7 preinstalled. Before setting it up I saved all my outstanding emails and email address on to a memory stick. I now want to import them into Windows Live Mail. I have gone through the recommended procedure for the emails, but only some of them have come across. I have been totally unable to import the addresses (.wab). The only procedures I have found seem to relate to a different version of Live Mail because they tell me to click on things that don't appear on my screen! Can anyone help?
It occurs to me that maybe not all the messages are being imported because I haven't imported the relevant contact details. could this be the case?

Since Windows 7 does not come with an email program, have you downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail from the Windows Live Essentials suite of free programs?

Windows Live Mail (WML) is not compatible with the Outlook Express Address Book, or at least so I think. However WLM can easily handle e-Mail Addresses as Comma Separated Values (CSV). There is a provision in the OE Address Book to export all the Addresses as a CSV file.
Therefore first create a CSV file on an OE running Computer and then transfer it to a WLM running computer and all your contacts shall be in place in WLM. I was able to do that without any problem.

However, the contacts pane winthin WLM has the ability to import contacts from serveral other types of email programs, including the .WAB contacts file from Outlook Express.
