After reinstalling outlook 2007 and installing the Quickbooks sync tool outlook now throws up the UAC pop window (do you want to allow the following oprogram to make changes to this computer?) every time I start it. I've tried uninstalling outlook and reinstalling it, I've downloaded all the office updates. I've uninstalled the sync tool and it I still get the UAC pop up every time. not only that but the sync tool never even showed up inside of outlook. Since this is a known publisher what can I do to get outlook to stop triggering the UAC?

Hello Micr0 Welcome to SF,

Maybe the QB Sync Tool requries admin rights in order to Function that's the reason why your getting UAC prompt. I would click Yes, its not gonna harm anything. Certian applications in Windows 7 requries Admin right to function properly. Prompt can be disabled only by Turning off UAC which we never would recommend to do that becuase that would expose you to security risk.

Hope this helps,
Captain

I have clicked yes. My problem is that it happens every time I start outlook. I have tried removing and reinstalling both Outlook and the QB sync add in, and neither had any effect. Outlook still triggers the UAC pop up on start up. I have installed with admin rights too which didn't make a difference. The Pop up is mearly annoying but I would like to get the sync tool working. FWIW when I was using Win7 beta 7100 I had this exact same copy of both outlook and Quickbooks installed with no problems. Now that the beta has expired I bought and installed the retail version of 7 and have been having weird problems like this.

Sorry. I would. :geek:[/QUOTE]

I would not. Captain is saying not recommended. I am sure many people do. I can almost bet the Captain, who is very knowledgable in this area, does not either.

Did you upgrade or clean install? I've maxed out UAC - another security function that should always be left enabled.

You might have the shortcuts on Desktop or Start menu Right click on the shortcut go to Properties and under Compatibility Tab check whether Run as administrator is checked. If checked uncheck it see whether it makes any difference.

Hope this helps,
Captain

Thanks Capt. I checked and some how the short cut was set to sun in compatibility mode for XP (32bit). I have no idea how that happened.

thanks again.
