Overclocking Leadtek PX8600GTS

i have a couple of things to ask about overclocking.
1.How to overclock a nvidia graphic card with riva tuner if you have a double boot.example.if i overclock a GPU on one OS,will it be overclocked on the other OS or i have to overclock the same value of everything i have overclocked on the other OS so it would be identically values of the overclocks(it is a stupid question but i dont know,i have been confused by the dual boot...
2.how much can i overclock the individually values of my GC?(without instability or overheating?
i would be thankful if someone could answer me

1 - your card is overclocked via software settings - so clcok speeds for each dual-boot os will be different.

2 - each single card/gpu is different, even 'identical' ones that are made next to each other in the factory - some cards you can maybe clock 25%, others will fall over at 2% - i think the secret lies in the random thermal paste spread.

anyway, once you have an overclock setting, you need to test it for temperatures and stability - there is no point having a really fast card if it overheats and crashes after a few minutes. i don't know if you can control fan speeds with rivatuner (i suspect you can, without checking), but a cooler card will be more clockable and stable.

BUT BE CAREFUL - it is possible to damage your card if you go too far.

yes I am aware of all the risks,but still my card is slow and it could use a little overclock.one more thing,if you can tell me a good program that can monitor GPU temperature and stability(if that can be measured)

i would imagine that measured temps as well, a quick look at their website shows a link to a 'RealTemp plugon'...there's also an overclocking and fan speed guide to read.

stability is hard to measure - if your games keep crashing after an overclock, you know you're not stable...so you need to slow down your overclock a little, and try again and see if it still crashes after a few minutes.
