Overclocking my E5300

I was wondering how far I can overclock this chip safely by just upping the FSB, without adjusting voltages and not touching the ram either.

Also I need a good aftermarket cooler using this following website.

ok........ the E5300 has a x13 multi, so you should be looking @ 3.0 - 3.5ghz without any other adjustment except the FSB....

though i am hearing this chip has an FSB wall at about 360mhz, some chips stop dead.. others can jump the wall & keep going.

ultimately your gonna be locked to a maximum 400fsb as your 6400 RAM may not clock too well past stock, but with a x13 multi 400fsb will be plenty.

in regards to a cooler, what kind of budget do you have for one..??, do you prefer ''push pins'' or a ''backplate'' (the latter will require mobo removal to install)

My budget is £50 max for a cooler and I prefer push pins. What do you think I can OC to with intel's stock cooler?

Im running that CPU, and i successfully got it to 3.0GHZ, with stock cooling, once i hit 3.15GHZ, it started getting errors, not stable for me, but your may be different.

well......from that website the only ''decent'' push pin cooler i could find was this..

scratch that....its the AM2 model.

i have this cooler on my Quad OCed @ 3.6ghz & its absolutely SUPER, i know its cheap & not even a full 120mm tower, but it will cool up to 200w , if your not looking @ heavy OCing (or even if you are), this cooler is a great choice for the ''price/performance'' ratio

another one with push pins you might wanna try & find is the ..''Thermaltake V1'', this is another EXCELLENT cooler (full copper block)

Coolermaster TX-3 is a pretty good one for cheap and has push pins too. If you are not doing any voltage increases, make sure your voltages are set to "normal" not "auto" if you have the option.

I am running my e2160 from 1.8 to 2.4 with stock voltage and cooling with no issues ive just won a e5300 on ebay for £11 bargain i think so ill have a try and let you know
