Hey guys! I just got this message while working on my PC saying it is overheating and will go to sleep in a few seconds.

Is this a function of Windows 7? I don't think I have any additional software that could be giving this warning.

My PC has been on since last night. Not doing any processor-intensive work throughout the day.

It was running one instance of Visual Studio 2010 and another of VS 2008 as well as Firefox with a few tabs, IE and Winamp.

Weird thing is it used to be on for days on end during much warmer days earlier this year.

I've got an Intel i5 270 2.8ghz and gforce 250gts, for what its worth

I've attached a screenshot.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Would there be a way to see what component caused the overheating? Like a log file or something?

That is usually a CPU overheating problem. Do you have the Intel Desktop Utilities that come with most Intel motherboards. It will monitor the temperatures and notify you if there is an overheating problem. Intel CPU's have built in thermal protection and will power off if they overheat.

I don't know of anything in Win 7 that will do this.
