Page Fault and Memory Management after video card installation

Well i started running memtest, and i noticed that the CAS was 7-7-7-20 so i went and reset the BIOS to default then re-entered the 8-8-8-22 for the voltages and started memtest up again and this time it took no longer than about 10 minutes for everything to blow up with red errors. I will attach a picture of the error screen so you can have a look.

Change your DRAM voltage to 'Manual' and set it at 1.550v.

Change the CPU & NB Voltage to 1.250v.

Save & Exit BIOS.

Run memtest86+ again for a full 7 tests, let it start test #8.
Best to run overnight.
You can stop the test if you get any errors.

Let us know the results.

well i set it up how you said and let it run when i left this morning, and i came back to a continuous stream of red errors haha, i believe it's up to 11 million... i'll post a pic once i can find my camera

We can try another set of voltage bumps.
Are your RAM cards in the Blue slots or the Black slots?

Can't seem to find your RAM on the Patriot site, do you have a part number or manufacturer name for it?

Change the CPU & NB Voltage to 1.300v.

Save & Exit BIOS.

Run memtest86+ again for a full 7 tests, let it start test #8.
Best to run overnight.
You can stop the test if you get any errors.

I'll let you know what memtest says when i get the results

P.S. Any ideas why my comp has started freezing during the startup and BIOS? Another thing i might add is that sometimes my keyboard and mouse seem like they aren't getting power when i start up the computer, like when i click my mouse the laser will flick on but only for a split second, same with the LED lights in my keyboard for whenever i press a key.

We could bump the voltage setting a little higher but, I think they are pretty high now.

Let's look at other hardware.
Do you have access to another PSU?
If you do change the PSU out for testing purposes.

Do you have another keyboard and mouse to test with?

A failing PSU can cause these types of issues.

Check that all connections are firmly plugged in.

I've seen many problems with Intel RAM when trying to run it on an AMD system.
It is always better to get RAM that is designed for your specific system, AMD/Asus.
Check your motherboard manual for the list of approved/tested RAM.
Other RAM may work but sometimes it is very difficult to get stable.

FAQ: I see that you have certain memory lines intended for specific platforms, why are some modules posted on a motheboard QVL list not compatible with my platform?

Any memory should work on any platform regardless but the advertised speed may not work. Different platforms have different tolerances such as voltages and other internal timings that may not correlate on different chipsets. This is why we have platform-specific memory. For example, the rated speeds of PVS34G1600LK are 1600MHz 7-7-7-20 1.Xv, but running this line on an Intel P55 motherboard may not work. It may only work at default (or relaxed) timings. Motherboard manufacturers may have different test methodology or special custom settings they were able to get any of our memory to work at rated timings on a specific platform. In this case, we would recommend contacting the motherboard manufacturer to see where they were able to get memory intended for different platforms/ chipsets to work. This RAM is not listed on your motherboards manual or website.
Your motherboard is not listed on the Patriot site for any RAM, the 'Memory Configurator' doesn't list it.

If you can RMA this RAM and get AMD/Asus spec RAM, this will likely solve this issue.

it's probably too late to RMA it, but i can probably find a friend that's willing to buy it off me. As for getting new RAM, does this look like it would do the trick? Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL it seems most people with AMD are using Gskill just wanted to get your opinion on it, thanks!

P.S. If the RAM isn't compatible with my motherboard, then why would it wait till now to start causing problems, months after i bought it?

All electronics can be temperamental, It might be one driver that causes stress, might be hardware stress.

Sometimes it's just one small thing that will tip it over the edge.
It will depend on your mix of hardware, all hardware has a different functionality level, then add that to all the different hardware components in your system.

This situation is not unusual. For example memtest86+ can pass several times and then fail. About 95% of the time it indicates a RAM problem.


I've ran a couple of 'RAM Configurators' and a few of them don't list you motherboard.

General rule: Get the RAM part number, Google it, go to the manufacturers site and look for the list of motherboards tested/approved.
If they list more Intel boards than AMD boards, the RAM is configured for Intel.
Example, if the list has +20 Intel boards and 3 AMD boards listed, they are configuring the RAM to work best on Intel boards, and it happen to work on a couple of AMD boards they tested. Possibly failed on many other AMD boards.

Best to find RAM that specifies, this RAM is "For an AMD motherboard".

I'll take a look later and see what I can find.
