Hello,
I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my pc. I love it. All is fine but my printer. The software disk says it will work with windows os through xp. I tried to load it anyway. I get an error when I try to load it saying it cannot run command. The printer is an HP Photosmart C6180 all in one. It works with 7, but way too slow. It was real fast with XP Home. My system is a Pentium 4, 3.2 gig intel processor, 2 gigs ram, Nvidia Gforce 7200 graphics card. I have 160 gig hard drive. So far all is great except for the printer. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks,
John

Did you install the XP driver in compatibility mode? When you use an older driver you need to install it in compatibility mode. You do that be right clicking the installer>properties>compatibility>choose XP

Let us know if that helps

I have no idea how to do that. Could I get some instructions from start to finish? I didn't install anything. I can't get the software disk to work.

Sure
1-get XP driver from cd or web site.
2-right click the file that is the installer
3-highlight properties, and right click it
4-hightlight compatibility
5-pick the OS (XP sp3)
6-install

thats it

good luck

I put in the hp software disk. Clicked on compatibility mode. Selected XP SP3. Clicked on install. Got the same message. This system does not meet one or more of the requirements needed to install this product. Installation cannot continue. In the left pane there is a red x and the words run as. I tried this in all users and as administrator. I can't find the drivers on the list of properties.

does it take a long time to spool or is the print head moving slower?

I'm not sure about the spooling. I highlight one line of text, click file, print, selection, one copy, apply and ok. It gets to the printer pretty quick. Then it takes about a minute to print four or five words.

I'm downloading the full software and driver package now. One thing I noticed is that my wife scanned a check a little while ago and the scan was super fast. That has never happened before. It was the other way around. Slow scan, fast printing. Now it's slow printing, fast scan. This is getting strange. Anything special I should do before installing the software?

Unplug your USB connection to the printer, and only connect when prompted to by the installer.
