I recently upgraded to W7 and just discovered that my multifunction printer apparently doesn't have support for W7 yet. It allegedly works with Vista but not W7. They said the W7 drivers wouldn't be ready until March. I tried to get them to offer a possible workaround..maybe another driver that might work but all I got was the canned response from their support person which didn't give me much confidence I was getting complete information. Anyone happen to know a workaround to get this printer working in W7? Panasonic's only advice was to switch back to XP which isn't very helpful. I have school starting soon and it would suck to have no printer all semester.

Model# - Panasonic KX-MB271 Multifunction Station.

I'm running W7 64bit.

A very common work around is to install the vista drivers under vista compatibility mode :)

Thanks for the quick response. I tried setting the installation executable to vista and xp compatibility mode and I get the same results. It just hangs at "configuring usb port". I never had that issue when I installed it under XP so I'm assuming it's some sort of compatibility issue.

Also, just to be clear..in case I'm not doing it right...to run the install in compatibility mode I just have to change that setting in the install executable or is there something else to it?

Yes you did it correctly.
Sorry I took a quick gaming break :P.
I love my days off, I sit here and surf the forums and play games when things get slow :P.

Thats weird.
Do they offer any kind of (corporate driver)?

I don't know tbh. I can't find much of anything on their support forums. All they offer is the whole multifunction software package. Within that package are the drivers but when I do a custom install and exclude everything but the printer driver I get the same problem. I also noticed that in my devices and printers section Windows is showing the device under the "unspecified" category and when I direct Windows to find/install drivers for it it fails. :(

Found the Panasonic KX-MB271 Windows 7 driver

I had the same problem, and after a lot of digging, found the Panasonic KX-MB271 Windows 7 driver and Multifunction Station software on a Panasonic Japan site:

Download for PC interface software | Consumer FAX | Home Communication | Consumer Products | Support | Panasonic Global

panasonic.net/pcc/support/fax/asia/table/mb772cx.htm

The file is:
http://cs.psn-web.net/support/fax/common/file/mb200_700/MFS78_121_ENG.exe

It is dated June 7, 2010 - only three weeks old!

Cheers

Eric
