Hi,

currently using Paragon HD Manager 2010 Pro and i'm curious about the Boot Manager feature that it has.

I currently have Ubuntu 10.10 x64 dual booted with my Windows 7 X64. I installed Windows 7 first, then ubuntu.

When i boot up my computer it uses GRUB which is the loader for Ubuntu, and i can select Windows 7 from this menu.

What i want to know is, will paragon boot manager basically do the same thing for me? I know GRUB is doing this for me, but when i update the kernel in ubuntu it adds un-needed entries at boot which is tacky and ugly and i dont like it and i'm nervous about configuring GRUB =)

I have my machine backed up so if i mess anything up, i'm safe. I figured i'd post my question here to see if i can avoid restoring from backup or maybe get some insight that will blow me away and make me feel stupid. -Fingers Crossed.-

I was going to say one of the advantages of Grub is the ability to boot with various kernels. If you are finding a clutter of options then I'd spend some time with grub configuration.

It's very convenient if a new kernel won't boot to be able to simply boot the last one that worked well.

Also I used Paragon image backup programs in the past. The actual backup to external USB and restore went fine if I had a vanilla Sata controller. But whenever I tried to create a backup capsule on Vista, it hosed my partition table. I don't have that much faith in their knowledge of post Vista NTFS details.

I'd stay with grub since it's been around a long time and is very reliable. You know it knows about Linux. I don't know how much Paragon knows about Linux and Vista/W7 put together. I'd be a bit cautious.
