Parental Control Annoyance

Hi guys,

I decided to test out the Parental Controls on my Windows 7 Ultimate computer.

I am the only user, so I made a test account to see what these controls offer.

When I deleted the account and disabled the parental controls all seemed to be back as normal. However, whenever I start my computer a notification pops up in the taskbar reminding me to create a password to enable the parental controls.

Is there a way to turn off this bubble. It is probably something simple that I overlooked.

Thanks, but isnt there an easier way? It wasn't poping up before I tried out the parental controls. Is there a way to disable the controls under services or something?:sarc:

I have never used Parental Controls but came upon this bit of information on Vista Forums:

I had this same problem after I made an acct to see how it worked... after I
deleted the user I kept getting that same annoying popup... so I remade the
acct that I tested with before... clicked "turn on Parental Control" but
then turned it back off and clicked ok... then I restarted and went to
"C:\Users\" and deleted the test acct folder associated with the acct I
made... I disabled the Service "Parental Control" in the Admin Tools, and
tada rebooted again and no popup!

Not sure if this will help you but no harm in giving it a try.

Yes, this most certainly does help. It appears that you need to turn off the parental control before you delete a child's account. Otherwise, parental control continues to think it exists, and sends you annoying pop-ups.

An additional bit of information: I did not need to disable the parental control service. (According to the description, the service is only a "stub" that serves to ensure "backwards compatability with Vista"--whatever that means.)

Thanks guys. I will add that the temporary account you add does not have to be the same one prematurely deleted. In my case that would have been impossible, as it had been deleted by the machine's previous owner, so I set up another Standard account, enabled PC, then disabled PC. For safety's sake I rebooted between all steps, though I doubt that's necessary. It seems the annoyance is gone. Some pretty dull programming by MS on this point.
