Parking lot bones confirmed as Richard III

The University of Leicester has today confirmed that the bones found in a local council parking lot last year are indeed those of Richard III, the last English king to die in battle.

The widely-anticipated announcement comes following a series of scientific tests, including CAT scans, radio carbon dating and a DNA comparison with a living descendant of Richard's sister.

The British aren't usually quite so absent-minded about where they leave the remains of their monarchs. However, following Richard's death at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485, he was buried at Leicester's Greyfriars Church, the site of which was long lost - until last year.

Shall we say the Queen doesn't want to digging though old bones in the family history. Leave buried what is buried.

I wonder how much in Parking that would have cost
525 years approx. @ 2 GBP per hour 12 hrs a day + charges, late fees, court fines etc.
(at least no Towing Fee would have been charged).

Will Her Royal Hignness QEII pay the fines -- she can still apparently be sent to ONE Prison -- The Tower of London is still a place where "A Royal" can be detained in "and from there taken to a place of execution and hanged by the neck until dead" !!!.

The Tower of London is Parliament's own prison - so although Prisons in the UK are officially "H.M.P" - Her Majesty's prisons - this doesn't apply to The Tower of London.

I'm sure the University of Leicester could do with that money to create some Scholarships --think it would be a great idea if HM QEII did that.

BTW QEII comes from a totally different line. Riccy 3 was a Plantagenet
-- the last actual ENGLISH King -- I believe came from the ancient county of Yorkshire - probably the nearest equivalent in the UK to Texas. !!

UK's royal family come from a mixture of Dutch (William of Orange), German, (QEII's surname was Saxecoburg - changed to Windsor around 1936) , Russia and a few odd Balkan smatterings, so it's not her family's bones. !!!

Apparently it might have been just a nail already there at the burial site. I hope it all works out for them - quite a dream find really with all the pieces coming together nicely.

However you may be like me, a doubting Thomas, I think matching DNA to a 17th gen family member is too much to accept. As if it matters anyway, so far all it's done is caused an argument as to where the remains should be buried, in the Parish they where found in, or York which is where RIII apparently was crowned.
I feel money and tourism has a lot to do with it ! (cynic)
