Partial Boot

So I've solved the stop start, now its thrown up another problem.

Started rebuilding a PC, took out the HDD, formatted in caddy, replaced, took out CPU, cleaned replaced, fitted new cooler. cleaned and replaced GPU.

Switched on, all lights fans startup, screen shows Post splash screen, BUT, thats as far as it goes, none of the key notifications work, loading OS disk does nothing.??????

Changed keyboard for working USB one.

From your explanation I'm not sure if your getting Bios screen. If you are enter Bios and make sure the hard drive is recognized and the CD player.

I can't get into the Bios, its just the Post Splash screen which shows Delete to enter Bios, but it doesn't work.
Also F9 for Express Recovery, and F12 for Boot Menu, neither works.

Try a PS2 keyboard...

jump the cmos on your motherboard to clear it out and see if that helps.

I had something very similar myself after doing a clean up like yours.

Turns out one of the connections to the mobo had been disturbed by my clumsiness. (Can't recall exactly which it was ).

Worth checking every connection - easy to disturb them.

+1 On loose connection.

Turn off and unplug. We don't want to hear any shocking reports.:shock:

Checking RAM seating or anything get out the wrist strap with all the dry winter air. Static electricity is rampant in the winter.

What's your hard drive / DVD arrangement and how are they connected to the motherboard?

Hard to tell. Depends on what is damaged on the CPU. Try re-seating it, have a look at the pins with a magnifier to see if there is any dirt, cooling paste, or if there is any noticeable damage.

Also make sure you have connected the CPU Fan to the right connector on the motherboard.
