Tried to upgrade from w7 7070 to 7100 and could not, no problem..but when restarting, my other drives are no more accessibles, have "access denied". How can I get back ownership, or access to them.
Thanks for help!

the partitions I cannot access anymore are my datas partition, else still have two partitions with OS.
Now, the partitions were shared on network and sharing still active (gone a try to access them from remote computer but doubt that)..the security tab does not give any owner name listed (everybody, administrator..)
Tried to take ownership through elevated administrator command prompt but answer there is still the same: acess denied.
I cross finger for someone to help me, else will have to delete and format the partitions and loose all my datas!
So thank you in advance for an effective cure!

On the security tab click advanced then select the owner tab. Why don't you just adjust the cversion.ini and do your upgrade?. You can add your user account to the list on the security tab as well ,as long as you have permission to do that it should give you access to the drive without taking ownership.

I signed up just to extend major thanks to François for starting this thread and to YupYup for providing a solution. A stupid mistake could have really cost me a lot of time restoring backups.

All the best!

Hi guys,

I installed Win7 over previous version (changed version file) but the problem also happened with me. The installation took several minutes 'copying personal configurations and settings' before raise an error and exit without the upgrade (and no access to partition).

I was thinking this might be caused by the files I have on PC (I have tons of PDF, MP3 files) and would like to know if there's anything I can make to avoid this message and get win7 upgraded.

Any ideas?
