What can I do, to get the partiton D to be C, and vice versa ?.

Click on the Drive letter you want to Change then click Change Drive letter or path

After that click Change and assign a different letter then click ok

   Warning

It is highly not recommended to change the drive letter of where you OS is installed as a lot of programs rely on the Drive letter as a directory

Also you can only use 1 Letter at one time

Make sure you backup first.

I have a paid Paragon HDM 2010 and I just had a look and I didn't see an option to re-arrange partition locations, just to re-arrange "free space" locations, that wouldn't help you.


You cannot change the OS drive letter without disabling the OS completely, besides, Windows disk management won't allow that.

Hello.

The only real way to do it would be to shrink C: enough so the data from D: can be moved to the 'new' created partition then use Partition Wizard Boot Disk to resize the left side of C: partition into the 'old' D: space.

Then use ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD, at no greater than 4x speed with a verify; it was designed for use and works best from a CD rather that a DVD then boot the created CD to make the changes.

I'll save you time and grief and just say....don't. Unless you are looking for an excuse to do a clean install.

Hi all kind people.

As this was an install of today, it's not that difficult to do a clean install again .

But what I very often do is, that when I do the partition set up within the W7 install is to do it correct, in such a way, that I get the smallest partition the one, that shall contain the OS.

Any help is much apprecaited.

Why not less than 100G ?.

I have used 40G since years without any issue

That's what drive labels and letters are for. Telling drives apart has nothing to do with size.

A 20GB partition is the minimum size recommended by Microsoft for a Windows 7 64-bit installation.

In the real world the minimum size recommended is 40GB, but given the proliferation of software we install, theog's recommendation of at least 100GB is far more practical.

With today's large hard drives it surely makes sense to give Windows plenty of disk space to do its thing.
