I own a Dell Studio 1555 laptop having Vista 32-bit. But it was giving problems so i wanted to install Windows XP, so when I inserted the disc, after loading all the drivers it showed a blue screen. I tried several times but same error was coming. I was having a DOS disc, with that i deleted the partitions coz i was thinking the recovery drive was not allowing me to install XP. But now neither i can create a partition nor i can install any OS. Please suggest what to do ?

Moreover is there any chance of warranty being void since i bought it just 4 months back ?

Hello Ayan007, welcome to Seven Forums!

If you didn't create the "Recovery Disks" before you deleted the "Recovery Partition" then you may have done away with the only way to recover your PC if ever you have any issues that require you to do a "Factory Recovery"; if it was the "D: Recovery" partition it's probably not big enough to install an OS on, how big is it?

Oh dear...Looks like you got rid of your recovery option and if you did your warranty is void! Not to worry tho. If I were you, I'd get GParted boot with it and check what the situation is with your partitions. If you have deleted them both, you can use Gparted to set up some new partitions and begin the installation process. Once your all set up, you should image your partition and store it safely. That way, if you do something like this again, you can recovery very quickly.
Good luck

Download it. Burn it. Put it in your drive. Set your PC to boot to CD. Once it's running you set up your partitions. Reboot. Put in your XP disc. Reboot. Insatll. Easy!

You need this software to fix your partitions. There are other options, just I use this. I already told you, if you deleted the recovery partition your warranty is void!

First of all, very smart move on your decision to switch from Vista to XP. What u need is a bootable XP install disk, with a license code. And, u need to change your bios settings to load the CD-ROM drive first before the C Drive. Then it should work.

If all else fails, take it to your local pc shop and have them do it for u.

I don't agree that switching from Vista to XP is a "smart move" IMO Vista is a much better OS
