Whenever my niece stays over for the weekend she messes up my wifes computer.
I would like to create our nieces her own partition that way WHEN she messes it up I can just reload that partition and not interfere with my wifes stuff.
She plays a kids game online with block shaped people and she downloads all types of crap without us knowing, maybe two OS's??

Or maybe some one could help me figure out how to not let her d-load all this crap.

I'm thinking,Vista will stay with my wifes machine and have our niece with XP. That way when she is here we just load XP and everything will be good.

Any thought????

I would agree with the others that providing her a "restricted" ID that will NOT let her install anything is the best way to go (for you folks). That way, she can't mess up your apps.

I'm thinking,Vista will stay with my wifes machine and have our niece with XP. That way when she is here we just load XP and everything will be good.

This could also work -- providing she ONLY has a logon on the XP machine. You would have to shrink down Vista to make some room (use the Vista Disk Management tool to do this). You would then have to install XP in the unallocated space. You would then need to modify the Vista BCD to add an entry for XP. You can do that manually, or you could download and install EasyBCD in Vista and use that.

Create a new standard User Account for your niece. She'll have to have you insert your Administrator password to make any changes. Just be sure not to give her the password in a moment of weakness. This works very well and keeps your present install undisturbed with nothing changed unless you approve it on the spot.

Plus put parental control on the user account.
