Partition in Dual boot system

In a dual boot system with 2 hard drives, one for Vista and one for Win 7, do both OS partitions need to be "Active & Boot & System"?

If you are installing the OS to each HD with only one HD plug in at time, & use the Dell F12 boot menu, YES.

I figured out how to set it "Active" but I can't find way to set it to" Boot & System". I have Mini Tool Partition Pro and Easeus.

If you installed each OS on a discreet drive, while the other drive was disconnected, you shouldn't have any problem with booting to either using the BIOS Popup Menu. It will boot to either just as if the other OS never existed. If you are having a problem with booting to one or the other, it is probably because you didn't disconnect the extra drive while installing the OS on the other.

Please post back a screenshot of your full Disk management drive map with both HD's connected, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu, so we can give you the exact steps.

Replace active with "inactive"

The Boot flag is simply the indicator of which OS is 'booted' at the time.

You can use easybcd to edit the boot setup for a dual boot system. I cant count how many times i hosed it up and needed to correct it.
