Thanks,

I think most of us have had that for a while already.

Works perfectly on my 7 x64.

Definitely worth getting if you don't already have it - Paragon do great software.

I downloaded the x64 version but it installed in the Program Files(x86) folder is it not really a 64 bit program?

The program is written in 32 bit code - it has 64 bit drivers.

It will also handle the other o/s you have installed - from within 7 x64 -or by using the boot disc - it doesn't matter if they are 32 or 64 bit.

Hi all

My problem with this sort of stuff is you have to register --and then for ever more you are on some stupid email circular list getting "info about great software - please BUY this"
or
" now for ONLY usd xx.xx a PRO / upgrade version is available".

OK you can filter this stuff out and I suppose the company has to make money somehow but it's still "nagware".

Not as bad as the DRIVERMAX type of sites that offer to scan stuff for free.

I REALLY HATE those type of sites with a VENOM - it says download program xxx for FREE or a Free scan - but when you want to do anything sensible with it you have to register and pay xxx to use any of the features you really want. - Those type of sites should be BANNED unless they say UP FRONT - the scanning software is free but you will probably have to pay to access the content found.

For partitioning you can always use something from OPEN SOURCE like GPARTED that doesn't put you on some stupid mailing list.

BTW WHY SHOULD YOU BE FORCED TO REGISTER TO GET A WINPE CD - anybody can make one of these.

Cheers
jimbo.

Just a word of warning. I downloaded and installed this program on my Win7 (64bit) and during a partition creation the program became unresponsive. After getting it closed I found that it completely destroyed my D: drive. Thank god drive d: only held my system backup and i was able to format it and backup my C: drive again. Needless to say I deleted the program immediately. Hope others have better luck than I did.

I'm sorry to hear that Blongs.

I have been using this program for quite a while on 7x64 - and performed just about every partitioning operation you can think of. It worked perfectly every time.

Hi Jimbo,

Do you have a registered version of Acronis ?

If so, do they send you the odd email about their new products?

This is a free version of a normally pay for product.

What they mean by a registered version is one you have paid for. Only the paid versions get the WinPE cd.

That is because they have to pay MS a license fee to use WinPE.

You can get WinPE free for your own use. If you include it in a product - you have to get a license from MS.

I understand your general point - but this is a mainstream reputable company - they won't pass your details around, or flood you with mail.

If you don't want the odd email from them - don't tick the box.

PAR-EMAILS-2009-10-18_053749.jpg

In any case, you could always use anonymous email drop.

You're welcome - hope you find it useful.

BTW - The defragger they include is very low level. It takes a long time and goes into "boot - time" mode. Not a good idea to stop it in the middle.
If you do - it should pick up where it left off by using the boot disc.

I have no doubt it is very effective - I have used it, but don't recommend it for home users. It is overkill for a home user - you might use it on a server system overnight, not sure why they include it anywhere except their Server Products.

Very strange - maybe it's an issue with 7100, which is after all , beta. Or perhaps you have particular hardware/software combinations that don't play well - which is true of any program, of course.

For example, I can't Comodo Time Machine to install on my system at all - it is still beta - but plenty of other people have no trouble - so there you go.

I have a retail version of 7 installed, 64 bit Ultimate Edition. I installed it. it deleted a partition fine. However, when I tried to resize a partition (including moving it), it required a reboot. The reboot failed to load into the partition manager software. It was at a black screen. Upon reboot, I now get this boot menu in the picture attached. Not to mention, it didn't resize my partition.

How do I get rid of this boot menu? Please help!!

I assume you can boot into 7 - otherwise, how do you know it didn't resize the partition?

If you can't boot into 7 - Boot the PM9.5 recovery cd you ran off.

Or is it just the menu and then it boots into 7 fine after the default timeout?
