Solved Partition REALLY Won't Show Up

I created a partition in order to dual boot with another OS. However, the partition isn't showing up. As seen in the images, my C drive no longer has anymore space for a partition when I just had 34,000 MB for a partition a few minutes ago that isn't showing up. Please help.

P.S. The pictures were taken after I tried to make a partition.

You say you created a partition.

Those pictures say you didn't.

Did you reboot and do a refresh and rescan within Disk Management?

I'd guess you didn't actually create a partition--because Windows Disk Management has certain limitations and cannot deal with so-called unmovable files.

You should try Partition Wizard bootable disk, which does not have those limitations.

What makes you think you created a partition?

Did you assign a drive letter?

Can you find that partition in a command prompt or in any way whatsoever?


Did you reboot and do a refresh and rescan within Disk Management?

Barring any evidence that you created it, I'd assume you didn't and would use Partition Wizard.

What makes me say I created a partition is because I had some 34,000 MB to "Shrink" and I did so. However, I did not assign a letter or anything. It froze up while in the "shrink" stage. I'll try the Partition Wizard.

EDIT: It will not show up in the Partition Wizard. However, I still have no more "shrinkable" room on the drive for some reason.

I don't see any signs of a new partition there, but I do see 147 GB unused on C.

You could shrink that and make a new partition from the new space.

It's been a long time since I used it---I'd start pulling down menus and look for resize or shrink.

It's the best tool around and rarely fails.

There's a Move/Resize. However, I believe that would reformat the whole C drive if I understand it correctly.

P.S. I have free disk space just not the partition and there's no room whatsoever for a partition to be created. I don't know why, there just isn't.

Look at the above link. It's for the bootable version, which you may or may not be using.

I would expect a move/resize command to do exactly that--move or resize.

I wouldn't expect PW to format anything unless asked to do so.

I clearly don't know how to create a new partition with the wizard. But I do know this. I have ABSOLUTELY NO SPACE for a new partition, I just don't. I don't understand it. This is shown in the images.

Your C partition currently covers the entire drive.

You will never have space for a new partition until and unless you resize an existing partition----C.

What is hard to understand?

Did you look at the instructions in the link in post 12?

Go to that partition move/resize menu.

What are the choices in that menu?

You need to reduce the size of C. You should be able to reduce it by circa 140 plus GB.

It's a well-designed intuitive program that you should be able to navigate with highlighting and right clicks.

Have you looked at the help file in PW?

I think I need about 50 GB of space partitioned for the second operating system. The images in post 15 are the options to move/resize. I still don't know how to resize the C drive to make it use a smaller amount.
