Solved Partition Removal

I have used windows disk management to create a partition to use for a VM and dual booting to test OS's. After the VM failed, I deleted the partition which left a scrap one of 1MB, another time it left a 2MB one. How can I merge or otherwise get rid of both? They are unallocated and probably do no harm, but I'd like to get rid of them both if possible, without damaging my data.

Hello mate, delete them first and use disk management to extend each respective partition to the right to reclaim that space.


You could use the information in this tutorial to recover all the space from F: into the C: partition.

These "remnant" unallocated partitions can occur with both Windows disk management and Partition Wizard. Why? I'm not really sure.
However, I generally use PW and they are easily fixed with a secondary action by simply resizing the adjacent partitions.

The option to delete them is not avaiable and extend is grayed out.
Even PW has most operations unavailable. This wasn't with the bootable version. PW even shows a 3rd one of hese pesky partitions (Disk 2 is an external drive)

Exactly. Gather the unallocated space using Resize from a partition. If PW Home doesn't do it, the bootable version should.

Well due to other issues I've done a clean install and just formatted my drive, took care of all stray partions.
