Use a program like paragon disk suite to shrink C: to about 40 gigs. then create a new partition using the free space.

Let us know when you are ready to do this

It is always best to first try using the Disk Mgmt utility to shrink your C: partition (then Create and format), since it cannot fail whereas 3rd party partitioning software can fail during Resizing operations.

If Disk mgmt will not shrink sufficiently then use free Partition Wizard CD as Arc suggests. In hundreds of resizing operations we have helped with here, there are no reports of it failing yet. But it still could, so back up your files and perhaps a System Image first as Arc says.

One thing I would add is before you start the repartitioning operations you make sure that you have a bootable recovery CD/DVD. this can either be a standard win7 install DVD, or one created from the backup & restore screen.

Any partitioning work on the system partition can render the system un-bootable, and require a start-up recovery to restore operation

If you image the C partition, you get everything (since you do not have a seperate data partition - which would be advisable). With a seperate data partition, you can image the system and the data partition independently depending on the frequency of changes. And you can easily mount the images (provided you use Macrium) and copy individual files from the image too - in case you want to recover just one or a few files/folders.
