I have a 1tb HD and I want to partition it to install another operating system. There is no "unallocated space". How do I go about making my partition?

Windows 7 Home premium 32 bit
You won't have any unallocated space until you shrink the current partition.

You can use Windows 7's disk management utility if you wish.

If you want more control you may want to consider using Partition Wizard, as this tutorial explains.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/93322-partition-wizard-use-bootable-cd.html

Basically, you create a Partition Wizard boot disc that you boot into, carry out your partition changes, apply them, and then boot back into Windows when you're done.

Disk Management is safe. But before you work with Partition Wizard, make an image of the current partition. PW can play an act on you if you are not extra careful. Has happened to me and I lost all partitions on the drive. Fortunately I had images of everything.

You cannot legally install OS X on a PC as Apple's EULA specifically states it can only be installed on Apple branded hardware.

If you run an Apple OS on a PC, you are in violation of the Apple EULA. So that would not be legal.

Technically it can be done, but legally you go out on a limb.

I see thank you for that. Could have landed myself in some trouble.
