Please post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Management drive map and listings:

1. Type Disk Management in Start Search box.
2. Open Disk Mgmt. window and maximize it.
3. Type Snipping Tool in Start Search box.
4. Open Snipping Tool, choose Rectangular Snip, draw a box around full map and all listings.
5, Save Snip, attach using paper clip in Reply Box.

Tell us what is on each partition.

What do you mean you don't want to mess with a partition sitting in the middle of your HD? It's obviously not a System partition so let's find out what's on it, by giving it a drive letter in Disk Mgmt to then Explore it. Drive Letter - Add, Change, or Remove in Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums

If it's not something you need then it can be deleted to successfully to extend C to the right in Disk Mgmt:
Partition or Volume - Delete
Partition or Volume - Extend

If the 500mb partition is something you know for sure you need then you can use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to move it over to the right so you can extend C: Partition Wizard Move/Resize Partition Video Help.

i cant do anything at all to the 500 mb partition except for delete it... everything else is greyed out and im pretty sure its been there ever since i installed windows 7

EDIT: also extend volume is greyed out and some other things when i right click on the main windows 7 partition

Do you see a menu when you right click that 500 MB partition? If so, what are the choices in that menu?

You may have to use Partition Wizard to extend C (rather than Disk Management), but you first need to find out what is on that 500 MB partition.

Well obviously Extend is greyed out on C since the 500mb Mystery Partition is sitting in the middle blocking extending it.

If you installed Win7 then you should have deleted all partitions during booted install. We don't just go by faith that some partition which we don't know what it is should remain on the HD. Is this a Dell or HP which still runs HD Diagnostics from boot? If not, delete the 500mb this way: Delete and Remove to Unlock EISA Hidden Recovery or Diagnostic Partition in Vista « My Digital Life

Otherwise move it over using Partition Wizard to extend C in Disk Mgmt. I gave you a video tutorial.

i ACTUALLY CANT find out whats on it...i cant access it, the ONLY options when right clicking the 500 mb partition are delete volume and help...EVERYTHING else is greyed out...also how do i access partition wizard?

EDIT: you beat me to my post...i didnt buy this computer my dad built it

EDIT2: i think that space might have been used as swap space on ubuntu so i deleted it and now i can extend...weird...
