I personally would just zip or RAR them with a password. The batch method in said tutorial is simply too easy to circumvent for everybody who's able to start up a computer without help ;)

Hi again

The problem in zipping is that i have huge folders, i would say, and it would take ages for zipping and unzipping them. my folders are around 400 mb each.

You could try using "Truecrypt" which is a free encryption program.

I use Folder lock and sometimes AxCrypt. Folder lock can encrypt or only lock your files/folders/drives or it can do both. if you decide to use Folder lock for locking drives, just be careful with the password or you´ll find yourself having to format your hard drive.

I don't get how this is any different than simply going to the folder's properties and making it a hidden folder. Because if you go to folder options and unhide hidden files you then can see the folder and open it w/o the locker file. Well, i guess i do see what it's for.....so that you can make hidden files and not have to go to folder options to unhide them. So it's just a simpler way, tho if you have a shortcut on the desktop to folder options it's not a lot better. What am i missing?

That´s it. As far as i could see it´s not safe seeing that anybody who wants can rename it to txt and get the password. It´ll be like having a vault with the key hanging on a hook beside it. Maybe if a body wants to code it to VB or C/C++ and compile it, it might have a positive effect. Anyway, even if you compile it you´ll have to protect it to prevent somebody from cracking it(if it is possible) using Olly or Hackman and get the password. Of course, somebody who take the time for doing all that is really too nosy.

So, just to add one more, there is a folder protect called Password Folder Protect. It´s not free and i tried it once. Anyway, if you´re trying to protect sensitive business/industrial infos i suggest you finding more suitable softwares.

remove the everyone group, keeping "Administrators" (if other users aren't) or removing all groups/users other than yourself.

Do Not Use This Program!!

(see below for program in question)

I just tested it, despite what I wrote below and it locked me out of my C: drive. I had to reboot in the "Safe Mode" and uninstall it. It required the program password to uninstall. Fortunately I was able to uninstall it in the "Safe Mode" and everything is now fine.

However, again I repeat

Do Not Use This Program!!

iObit (which has had its problems with Malwarebytes) has a new free program available for download called "Password Folder". Beware that the current release is v1 Beta1.0:eek:

Here is what they say on the website about the program

Protect your folder and files in a safety box!

Password Folder is designed to password-protect your folders and files from being seen, read or modified in Windows 7, Vista, XP and Server 2008, 2003. It works like a safety box, just drag and drop the folders or files you want to hide or protect into Password Folder, then no one can see, read or modify them. Whether you are concerned with privacy, data theft, data loss, or data leaks, Password Folder is an ideal tool for you.

Hide from View
Hide folders, files, pictures & videos from those who want to investigate and search for certain files on your computer. No one can see them except you.

Block Access
Easily block access to files, folders, and programs you choose. You can password protect folder and its files then others can see it but cannot access, read or view its content.

Write Protection

Protect your files from being modified by others. No one can change the content of your files without your permission. Lock your file and folder to be unchangeable.
I have not tested it. I am always leery of testing any program that is v1 Beta1.0.:)

Why would you test out a code like this on your C drive? I would have tried it on a new folder to see if it works first. Glad to hear you got it fixed though :)
