Password problem

I'm having trouble getting windows 7 to load. It tells me the password is wrong. However, if I go to safe mode and ust the password, it load fine. Any ideas? Hopefully, I can do this without reinstalling windos 7. Since this was from an upgrade disk, I will have to install Vista first and then install win 7. By the way, I already tried to change password in safe mode. The new password will again only work in safe mode.

I already tried that. Only had one restore point listed. Not knowwhy there was only one. Still have the proble

Once you get the other issue sorted have a look at this tutorial, it makes creating restore points almost automatic, at the link below.
