Password Protected Laptop

Hi. My Lenovo, which was loaded with Windows 10, expired and I was given a deceased friend's business computer. It is loaded with Windows 7 pro. I was told that it was password protected. I didn't think that would be such a big deal and that all I would have to do was restore the laptop to its original factory settings. My intention was to obtain a link to download a Windows 7 ISO so I purchased a 16 GB flash drive for that purpose. however, a couple of issues have arisen. I don't have a product code for the Windows 7 ISO and, more importantly, the laptop itself is set up to login into a domain. I understand that changes everything. I don't have the resources to purchase either a Windows 7 or 10 installation disc. I need to know if there's anything I can do to restore the settings on this laptop. It's a pretty good piece of equipment, that much I know.

As the computer is setup to immediately login to a domain, then it probably hasn't got a full Win 7 version installed!

Can you boot into Safe Mode?

Have you looked to see if it has a recovery partition?

You can find the Product Key for the version of Windows that you are running, which by the way, is the ONLY version that you will be able to activate. You can retrieve it by either using Belarc Advisor or Magic Jelly Bean.

Are you saying its set too login to a domain but you need a password? You should be able to login locally as well from the drop down list and if its your firms domain domain admin can login if you connect it to the domain.

As this is a former business computer it is likely that the only way to get into the system is by having all the correct codes.

Even if you have the codes, the licence on business systems is by default not transferable to anyone, (the BIOS may even be locked so the device would not be accessible install a New OS) so you would need to completely wipe the system and install a new licenced copy of the OS.

There are some legitimate copies left of OEM windows 7 disks with new keys, but they are very rare and thus very expensive

Where is it password protected
OS Login or Bios,
if its Bios little chance but if you can open it up follow reset bios password in the comps user manual.

Even business comps have a COA, laptop-battery compartment?? or Desktop on the side ??
it will have a version AND more importantly a product key(DONT post it - just tell us home/pro oem)

getting hold of a FREE iso is not a problem.
