Password server failed boot

I have a Lenovo laptop with Windows 7 Home premium 32-bit.

When it comes up to the password screen any password entered returns the message 'password server failed boot'.

It is not possible to get past this error.

Is the drive bad?

Is there something that can be done to get around the message?

Ztruker, I was wondering the same thing.

ncarlson, Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Maybe you could use a camera to take a picture of the screen while that error is showing.

I apologize. I know better but my experience is not with Windows except as a user.

The complete message; "The user profile service failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded.

This message is the response when any password (good or bad) is entered.

Thank you. I will try some of the options listed.

I did ask a PC 'expert' who said it was likely to be a registry problem which is what your link is about also.

I am having the drive copied off now so I can mess with the operating system without losing stuff.

Worst case I'll rebuild/reload the operating system.

The wording is almost identical, I don't see much of a difference though Shawn's is a bit clearer.

Agreed, nothing wrong with your link. It's just most people that are novices though find shawn tutorial easier to follow. Not saying OP is a novice. You know what I mean.

Yes, I do know. I always refer to sevenforums or eightforums tutorial when I find them. Didn't come up high on Google's search list this time.
