Hello,
After installing Win 7, I was presented with updates. several were important, but then there were a bunch of language packs. for some silly reason i decided to install all the language packs. the process was taking forever, and i canceled it about 55% through, and restarted. At restart win 7 said it was appplying updates and had aboyut 750k of them to do. at about 700k, it unexpectadely turned off and since then win 7 will not boot. it hangs on "starting windows" when i start normally, and when i start with repair mode it hangs on a blank screen. I booted of the install dvd and tried to repair, which failed. the root cause in the repair details is a patch is preventing startup, error code = 0xa.

anyone have a solution?

thanks

Use system restore to a point prior to the updates. You will then be given the option to install again. Install the ones that you want, one at a time. Determine the problem and do not install, unless you consider it important. In all situations, do not agree to install all at once. Do a few at a time to avoid potential problems

I have no system restore points because this was a fresh install.

If it is a new install, you can do a repair install, and a check disk. You should be ok after that.

ok I got it to boot up. I started in safe mode and windows reconfigured my settings, then restarted, then reconfigured settings again, then restarted and reconfigured a third time, then restarted and booted up properly.

now i have been presented with the updates again....lets hope i can figure out wtf happened to me...

I started win 7 in safe mode, and it reconfigured settings and restarted 3 times before booting up at a point before the updates were installed. I created a restore point and then installed all the updates but not the language packs. just restarted the system and it seems to work normally. so my issue must have been either with the langage packs or the unexpected power down. just plain wierd. thanks for the advice fellas.
