Hi all

My PC is randomly switching itself off, both during a game and just in Windows.

I am able to turn it back on again after a few minutes.

I've also had a BSOD but I couldn't read the error message in time before it reset.

Am monitoring temperatures in CPU-Z, GPU-Z, Core temp and HW Monitor and they all look fine. CPU 25-30C in Core temp/HW Monitor.

GPU is 43-49C (not gaming).

Have just updated my system specs.

This forum has been a great help to me in the past. I really hope someone can help me again!

Thanks in advance,
Rave

Hi Rave79x.

The crash dump reports that it is caused by a CPU temperature monitoring program, Core Temp.
Code:
BugCheck 50, {fffffa8015e00000, 0, fffff8800a07461e, 2}

What is alsysio64.sys ? | System Explorer

But I am not seeing you have this program installed.

The location from where is is running is even interesting!
Code:
    Image path: \??\D:\Users\DAVIDM~1\[COLOR=Red]AppData\Local\Temp[/COLOR]\ALSysIO64.sys
It should not be there at all. The usual location of a driver is C:\Windows\System32\drivers. Why it is such an odd location?

First of all, try cleaning the Temp. Download, install and run CCleaner. It is supposed to free up the Temp folders.

Next, the most important thing is .... when a known program is running from an unusual location, specially with no trace of the program in the system, it can be guessed that something unwanted is disguising under a known name. Beware of malware. Scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs only.

Let us know the results.

Thank you for replying so quickly.

I have had such a busy week - I've not had a chance to act on your advice. As soon as I do, I will report back.

A couple of thoughts:

The PC has been shutting off whilst CoreTemp was not open. It was this issue that prompted me to open CoreTemp, to see if the CPU temp was possibly causing the shut downs.

CoreTemp is also installed - its showing in my 'Uninstall a program' list.

Thanks again - its really appreciated. I'll still look into your suggestions.
