PC doesn't seem to read mouse input correctly

Hi everyone,

I have had a long term problem with any mouse I use on my computer, whether it be optical or laser with or without drivers the mice are harder to control than they should be.

Most of the optical mice seem to have faster movements than they should do, whilst the laser mice seem to have the opposite effect; now I have tried different ports, surfaces, dpi etc. and they make subtle changes but nothing major.

When I first had my PC around 2 1/2 years ago everything felt fine, even with the mouse I am using now (Madcatz RAT 3) so I am not sure what has changed.

I am not sure what else I can try, if it comes to it I may end up taking it to a local repair shop even then I don't think it will be fixed.

Has anyone got any ideas of something I can check or try which may give me a better insight to what is causing the problem.

Many thanks in advance,

Luke

Hi Luke ... Welcome to Seven Forums ... Are all your Drivers up to date ?

Also have you run Windows Updates recently ? ...

What about Antivirus and Malware programs which ones do you use ?

Do other Devices work as normal ?

Finally have you tried the PS 2 Port ?

Hi thanks for the quick response!

I have done some updates recently, even before the updates I had the problem; and now after a lot of updates nothing has been fixed.

I did used to use Avast up until a couple of weeks ago, but had to uninstall due to the program conflicting with my LAN.

Yes every other device works normally, which is the strange part; I mean the mice work but they just don't fell 100% like any other PC would.

I haven't tried the PS2 port, but that is due to my mice all being USB; I did recently buy a USB hub as well which did actually seem to help but only a bit.

Hi Oscer,

I have tried using the software before and also using the Windows slider, but unfortunately any sensitivity still feels off.

I recommend only use USB 2.0 ports for mouse and keyboards.
Many mouse and keyboards work poorly on USB 3.0. Even when that say they are for USB 3.0.

I would also recommend using no hub. Direct connection for mouse and keyboards only.

Ok thanks I will try the old USB ports again and see if there is a difference
