Hi, i recently tried to install windows l7 on my friends compaq presario , and now it has no video no keyboard and beeps therepeatedly for about 2 minutes hten shuts down whenever poweered on, the thing smells like melting plastic and i think it is just overheating, when i take the memory out it works fien however but not when in. unless memory is not inseted properly, but even if it isnt' it still will not boot and has no video any suggestions. l.o.l i typed thi faster then my interent could so forgive the rrors..:P it alsu.

Clean install or upgrade? You can do an clean install with an upgrade DVD.
If you had to reinstall the programs it was clean install.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but I'm not aware of an operating system installation that will cause a computer to have a literal meltdown. If you smell melting plastic, you're suffering a hardware problem that will not get better. I wouldn't leave this system unattended and running/plugged in, for fear of a fire.

I agree 100% with Lemur, but its a funny conicidence that it happens just when you changed the system. OS dont normally do that, but hunch here is that it is somehow tied together.
