PC failed POST

Haven't been turning on my PC lately since I found a job and haven't been spending much time at home.

Anyway...

Turned on PC today (worked fine yesterday btw). Kept failing POST and kept showing the motherboard splash screen and restarting, couldn't even go into setup.

Made sure no cables were lose, turned it on again and told me overclocking failed. Went into setup, reset Bios and it worked.

Is this something that I should be worried about ? or is it a simple software issue ?

With the limited amount of information I would guess you had a over clock and it failed. Just to be cautious I would monitor the temps. What you probably did was set the bios back to default.

Normally, when a computer boots up and goes through the POST routine, it signals successful completion of this by means of a single beep through the motherboard speaker (if fitted). Failure at this point usually results in a sequence of beeps, some long and some short. If you are getting such a sequence, what is it that you are hearing?

I had only overclocked it from 2.66 to 3.0 ..nothing big.

As far as beeps go, I was hearing 1 beep which usually means succesful and before I get to see the windows logo I was seeing no signal and the pc kept restarting

If you haven't changed your BIOS CMOS battery for a long time then you may try replacing it.

Have you tried reverting back to stock settings (i.e. 2.66Ghz as opposed to 3GHz) ?

Overclocking can be a very touchy matter, especially with certain motherboard/CPU combinations, etc. There are typically several different ways to achieve overclock. What was your specific methods?
