PC finished the 200 plus updates and sucked up 3-4 gb of free space

Is there someway to free up some space? I am down to 1gb free space.
During the running of the updates I had 5.9 gb free space.

Well it just rebooted itself and reconfigured again, and now free space is back to an original 8gb before I started any updates.

Running Windows with that amount of free space is likely to cause problems.
The implication is that your Windows partition is only around 30GB.
This is simply not big enough in realistic scenarios unless you are prepared to spend days optimising the system to your usage - and even then it's going to be very tight once you start installing software as it isn't possible to avoid adding something to the partition with every install.

You need to either increase the size of the Windows partition, or get a new hard drive.

My windows partition is 116 gb.
My space was tight but after updates it has shrunken.
I freed up 15gb free space a few days earlier. I used an external drive and off loaded some movies.
But the space was sucked up when I installed sqlserver and then updates used some more.

Trying to do more updates, and I see it has dropped from 8gb free to 6 gb free.
Is there a way to flush out whatever is sucking up space?
My windows dir size is 26gb

My Win 7 OS's use less than 50 GB for the Drive. I have the OS and installed programs on the [C] drive, OS installed apx. 6 years ago. I store user data (movies,music,docs,pics,etc.) on a different partition/HD. For me, user data always ends up hundreds of GB's, or TB's. I have a desktop, so i can add sata drives as needed. If you have a laptop with 1 bay, that's a very different scenario.

I need to go through the drive and see what files are taking up space.
Is there a program that can look through your drive and graphically show
what files are huge etc... in some kind of descending list?
Also MSSQL server when I was installing, I had continual failures due to Avast blocking writes for the setup, so I have at least 3 failed instances which may have several gb wasted space there for every failed instance.

Any ideas about elimination of those failed instances?

For space issues, I like WizTree the best.
They have a portable zip available, so no install needed.
Antibody Software - WizTree finds the files and folders using the most disk space on your hard drive

There is also WinDirStat, TreeSizeFree, etc.

I found out how, I have 5 instances, but only one works, so will delete 4.

WizTree is a nice program.
I removed those other busted instances, and now have 11.3gb free so an improvement.
