PC freeze & horizontal stripes

Hello,
at random situations (especially when playing games or watching videos) my PC completely freezes and the screen shows horizontal stripes only. The mouse is still visible but I can't move it. I also have winXP installed on the same system (so I can switch between XP and 7) and the freeze does not happen on XP. As such I don't think it is a hardware problem but rather a driver problem (I'm updating AMD drivers frequently but it doesn't help)

You may also want to read this thread as the BSODs there happened at the same time so you can see what I already have tried.

Thank you for your help.

Instead of flying in the face of advice, how about you install a genuine copy of Windows? The ACER PID you have on your retail ASUS motherboard means your installation is counterfeit.

Your Windows installation is counterfeit, it is not genuine. I'm not going to say it again, buy a legal, legitimate copy of Windows and install that.

You're now running a genuine copy of Windows?

If the problem persists then post updated information, if you experience any more BSODs upload the new logs.

BSODs
If I do not run driver verifier my PC BSODs.

Freezes
Still happen. But there happened something suspicious: I wanted to use my DVD-Drive but when I look in my Computer window there is no DVD-Drive shown. So I go to device manager and I see it says that the driver is corrupt or missing. So I reinstall the driver of the drive and it shows up in Computer again. I try to access it but a freeze (striped screen) happened. I reboot and the driver for the DVD-drive is missing again! I reinstall it again and another freeze happens. So I thought maybe the DVD-drive has something to do with the freezes. I completely unplugged the drive of my computer but the freezes are still happening. :(

Ok mate a graphics issue in that dmp that is suggesting uninstalling and reinstalling the Catalyst Control Centre
Desktop
I already did that multiple times.

Now without having to delve all the way back have you run the machine with another card - any AMD one would do to see if it is not the card at fault? because we are running out of options here.

I guess you have already tried reseating the card and power leads?
see my little ditties and please run both because I ma intereste in what is happening with the PSU too.

SLOT CLEANING

Now as for the slots toclean them use a strip of old credit card (or any card thin enough some arebetter than others ) about 1/2 inch wide nip the corners off one end - preferably round them off hold a piece of thin lint free cloth over theend dab on some form of alcohol - isopropyl alcohol (what we swab the skin withbefore an injection) is good and GENTLYswipe along the slots.

This can also be done for the GPU slot/s andalso the contacts of the sticks or cards - not the stick but some lint freecloth of course. See my pic for the sick but please be very gentle doing it ifyou are in any doubt - please ask before doing it but I use this all the timeand have yet to damage anything

Using HW Info

PART A:

You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right handwindow select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will seewhat the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT is a dead give awayyou are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titlesand one that pops up often is ITE

Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/-of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.

See this for the rail voltage info

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-specifications-atx-reference,3061.html (Section 2.)

The original right hand window shows the machine running and ishandy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it anduse the main left hand side panel

FOR OTHER COMPONENTS

PART B:

Open each small square with + in it on the section thecomponents are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the righthand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and otheressential info that particular device. See pic for example.

Use PART A: to check the PSU and PART B: to check the graphics readings being a desktop card the readout will be far more detailed - look for what seems to be abnormal volts temps etc etc

As said before, the issues do not happen on win XP. As such I haven't tried anything that is related to hardware.
Anyways here are my hwinfo results:

Well the PSU seems up to scratch at least - I was looking for a wayward rail that may have been throwing the graphics card out.

I don't know if Boozad has any ideas on the graphics card it could just be faulty in some way.

OK this is too annoying; is there any chance that upgrading to win10 will fix the issues?
