Hi all, had some weird power issues last night, and when I turned my computer off with the switch on the psu, (the computer had already shutdown) the circuit the computer was plugged into in the house tripped. Today, I turned my computer on, logged into windows 7, and i froze after about 3 minutes on the desktop. I tried rebooting several times but to no avail. I believe it to be a software problem as booting into arch linux had no issues(I am typing this from arch linux).

Just wondering what I should do now...

Hi,

Did you try running Hardware Diagnostics on your system? if not, then run the Hardware Diagnostics and post back the results.

If you are able to boot in "safe mode" and if your system works fine in "safe mode", then I would suggest you to restore your system back to a date when it was working fine. System Restore will affect Windows system files, programs, and registry settings only.

I would suggest you to do Flee Power. Remove any 3rd party peripherals and power cord from your Desktop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the desktop. This clears RAM and resets the hardware.

Kindly post back the results
