Pc freezing for a minute then ok - happening often 2different installs

Hi All,

Let me begin by thanking you in advance-

Ok I have a a custom build computer for ages now no hardware change- all of a sudden i begin getting freezes, mainly while watching videos online- i hear the sound in the background but mouse wont move and sound is laggggggingggggg after a minute or 2 it seems to sort itself and work ok does not reboot or anything.

this is what i know, i had a mouse, which upon every restart would need unplugging and plugging back into the usb for windows to detect?

this mouse has since been replaced and works fine now but doesnt seem to help the problem of freezing-

I did try to disable the gigabyte azalia codec in the bios, and i didnt have the problem again>? weather this was lucky (only had it disabled a day) the problem when thats disabled windows doesnt pick up any hardware to play sound, so had to re-enable -?

Im just trying to find out what the problem is so i dont go buying a sound card for no reason?

I WOULD JUST ADD THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPEND I QUICKLY CHECKED THE WINDOWS EVENT VIEWER AND THERE WERE 4 MESSAGES ALL RELATING TO SYSTEM SECURITY PROTECTION at the time the error happened? not sure if they were just after or just before as computer froze for 2 minutes
