This is becoming increasingly frustrating. I have never had these problem with Windows 7 RC x64.

But, for some reason my recently installed Windows 7 x64 7600 has been freezing. Stays frozen for 20-25 minutes then makes a loud boop noise and unfreezes.

The programs I normally have running when this happens are utorrent, firefox, nod32, malwarebytes (active protection), itunes and maybe ps3 media server. I have different combination of these programs running and it still happens. I deleted some non essential programs hoping that would help.

I have done quite a few virus and malware scans and haven't found anything.

Any ideas or suggestions?

It literally makes a noise? Can you tell whether it's coming from inside the case (which component?), or perhaps from the speakers?

Did you re-install after the "final Installer" problem you previously had?

Does it freeze when you alt-tab between programs, or just when you have them all open and some are in the background?

If it's an alt tab problem, try using Alt-tab-thingy instead of the default windows alt tab manager. I had an issue where my system was crashing/rebooting if I used the default alt-tab between high load programs, and alt-tab-thingy fixed that perfectly.

It freezes when programs are running in the and in the background.

The computer becomes frozen until a loud bloop noise happens. My downloads seem to continue. But if I have music playing it stops until that sound.

It literally makes a loud bloop noise from the speaker. I opened my case to clean and check for loose wires and everything looked good.

I did a fresh install after that uninstaller issue I had last time. Have been good about not installing questionable software.

If the noise is from a speaker, it may just be the way that the sound driver is handling its sudden reanimation. Noises from within the case itself (with no active speaker) are usually far more sinister :)

Assuming the cause is software, the most likely type of culprit is a driver. Something new and not-of-the-OS that wasn't there under your previous RC installation: new anti-virus, or new firewall, or sound, or video... A driver with a bug has the ability to pause or completely suspend virtually all OS operations, making it look like the box is hung.

Thanks for the help. I think I solved my issue. The problem was ps3 media server 1.10.5. I downloaded the latest version from the site. This was x86. When I ran this program by itself got almost instant freezing.

Solution. I uninstalled ps3 media server 1.10.5. Cleaned its remnants with ccleaner and did a search everything to remove any remnants.

Followed this guide.

How To Play HD Content on Your PS3 [Guide] | Smashing Downloads

Summary.

I had to install Java SE Runtime Environment x64 first before installing the ps3 media server.

I also installed the latest beta of ps3 media server 1.11.356.

Adjusted settings as needed.

Everything is working. :)

Thanks for the replies guys. This site rocks. I would recommended it to anyone that uses windows 7. (My friends are still afraid of it.)

Maybe the site could be improved,

Lol. There actually afraid of windows 7 and anything new in tech.

I'm essentially the beta tester of everything. I'm first with all game systems, ipods, gps, you name it. A year or more later they get the stuff after asking for my recommendations.

I'm also tech support for some reason it is to difficult to ask a question on a message board.

There use is party accessories and booze. Fair deal.
